The Academy of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (AANS) works in partnership with
Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) and Sampson Community College (SCC) to
prepare students for a rewarding career in an agriculture-related field. Students may choose a
pathway from the areas of Animal Science, Agricultural Mechanics, Horticulture or Natural
Resources. Students in the Horticulture program have the opportunity to earn up to 12 hours of
credit toward an associate degree from FTCC. The Academy is also a member of NAF (National
Academy Foundation) which takes students beyond what traditional high schools offer by
providing access to the tools that will help them navigate and build skills for what’s next,
whether that’s college, a career, or another pathway.
Academy students graduate ready to join the workforce through professional certification Youth
for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) and OSHA. Starting salaries in these fields begin as
high a $40,000 per year.
